Donald Trump has now been in office for 6 months and they have been a busy 6 months. The President was elected by making campaign promises and since he has taken office he has followed through with many of those promises. Even though he is following through with these promises Donald Trump has been attacked for many of the decisions he has made. As expected, Democrats attack the president for every decision he makes. They continually try to convince the American people that Donald Trump will destroy this country. Trump has introduced the “big beautiful bill” which has also been attacked. Much of the attacks in the bill are in regards to illegal immigration, health insurance, and tax breaks going to the wealthy.
Illegal Immigration
Since Donald Trump has taken office he has kept his promise to deport illegal immigrants. Democrats have continued to attack Trump about the harm is doing by deporting illegal immigrants. Even though I agree with deporting illegal immigrants and think it is a problem that needs to be resolved I do understand some of the attacks Donald Trump has received. Many of the attacks are surrounding who is being deported. Anyone who is in this country illegally is at risk of being deported. Many immigrants who are in this country are here on a visa or have obtained a green card and they should not be deported at all. Immigration has helped this country grow and I welcome immigrants coming to this country, but they have to do it legally. Immigrants cannot come to this country, take advantage of our system and not expect consequences.
One of the biggest contraversaries I have heard is in regards to who is being deported. Democrats have claimed that many people who have been deported aren’t criminals and should not have been deported. Donald Trump did say that he was going to go after the most dangerous illegal immigrants first, ones who are in this country illegally and have committed crimes. Democrats are sending the message that if someone is in this country illegally but hasn’t committed any crimes then they should be allowed to stay. The fact that they came to this country illegally is a crime. The consequence for committing this crime is deportation. We can’t pick and choose what laws we want to follow and which ones we want to ignore. Anybody in this country who is not here legally should be deported.
Another argument that I somewhat agree with is deporting people who have been in this country for a long time. Some people facing deportation have been in our country for over a decade and have made a life for themselves here. People who have been in our country for that long are most likely more familiar with this country then they are with their own countries. It would be hard to go back to a country that you have been away from for so long and may not have any ties or connections there. I understand how these deportations can be controversial but the fact remains that they can’t stay in this country and not be a citizen.
If someone has been in this country for a long period of time and has not committed any crimes I think they should have a chance to become a citizen before they are deported. Most of the deportations that are occurring are being done without a trial. Having a trial for every illegal immigrant being deported would not only keep them in our country, on the taxpayers dime, but would be a long process that would involve too much time and resources. I do think that each case should be looked at on an individual basis. If there are not any extenuating circumstances then they should be immediately deported, if these circumstances exist then they should receive a trial.
I think that extenuating circumstances should include people who have been here for a long period of time, have created a family here, work, and not committed any major crimes, such as felonies. These people should have a chance to be given a trial and the opportunity to obtain a green card so they can remain in this country as a citizen. I think we also need to consider people who are eligible to be granted asylum. Many people who are eligible for asylum entered this country illegally instead of going through the immigration process. The Biden administration sent a message that our borders were open and it was okay to illegally cross instead of legally going through the immigration process. This message caused everyone from criminals to asylum seekers to come to this country by crossing the border.
Another argument Democrats are making is the harm deporting illegal immigrants will do to our economy. We are being told that we need illegal immigrants in this country because the jobs they work allow us to keep prices low on products. By making this argument Democrats are basically telling us that we are taking advantage of illegal immigrants. Many illegal immigrants work jobs nobody wants to do and get paid a lot less than most working Americans. Since many companies hire illegal immigrants, pay them cash and keep it off the books they are able to keep prices down on products. Farming and construction are two of the biggest jobs that illegal immigrants work and are the areas where Democrats claim will be hurt the most by deportations.
I have a few problems with this argument and believe that it causes more harm than good to our country. It isn’t that nobody wants to do these jobs, it’s that nobody will do them for the wages these companies pay illegal immigrants. These companies are using illegal immigrants so they can pay them cash off the books because they know it is the only way an illegal immigrant can get paid at a job. Because they are being paid cash they are able to avoid taxes. The company avoids payroll tax and anyone being paid cash for work is not paying taxes. Illegal immigrants not only cost the tax payer money but it takes away from taxes that should be being paid.
Health Care
One of the biggest attacks of Trump’s “big beautiful bill” is the cuts being done to medicaid and medicare and the damage it will cause. Democrats are trying to scare people by telling them that people will die because of this bill and cuts it is making to health care. Democrats have been saying since the campaign that President Trump is going to cut health care and social security and they are going to use an opportunity they can to make this claim. The only message Democrats have is to attack Trump for every decision he makes and make people live in fear. They claim that this bill will cause the elderly and disabled to lose their insurance and will result in many people dying. The democrats have attacked Trump so many times and have been wrong that it is hard for me to believe anything they say.
Although this bill does have cuts to health care it has nothing to do with the elderly or disabled losing their health insurance. There have been a few problems with the health care system and this bill is designed to fix these problems. One of them is the amount of fraud that occurs through health insurance. It does change the people who are eligible for Medicaid. People are between the ages of 18-65 and are “able-bodied” must work 80 hours a month or have an exemption where that isn’t possible to receive Medicaid. People who are disabled are not considered able-bodied and therefore qualify. Those who qualify for Medicaid must also renew every 6 months, more often than the current once a year requirement.
These new guidelines doesn’t cut anyone off of Medicaid who isn’t able to receive it. It puts a stop to the millions of dollars that are used on Medicaid for people who take advantage of it. Asking someone who is able to work 80 hours a month is a reasonable request. This country cannot afford to just give everyone free health insurance and there has to be restrictions so that we can afford to give it to the people who really need it. This bill actually helps elderly and disable people keep their health insurance.
Another change to Medicaid is no longer allowing illegal immigrants to qualify for health insurance. In order to receive Medicaid you have to be a citizen and I am surprised this wasn’t already a requirement. This should be something that is common sense and I don’t see how Democrats can make an argument against this change. This is an example of how illegal immigrants take advantage of our system and it cost tax payers millions of dollars. Most illegal immigrants who work are not on the books and therefore don’t pay taxes but still receive the benefits such as health insurance. Citizens pay taxes to the government so they are able to implement policies that help the American people. Immigrants should enjoy the benefits of this country but they need to do it legally and obtain a green card and pay taxes like every citizen has to.
Trump’s bill has also changed what procedures medicaid will cover. One procedures Medicaid will not cover is abortion unless in cases of rape of incest. I can see why this change would be implemented and it will help cut down on costs. This is a topic that has been the center of many debates and is still being argued in many states. Whether or not you are pro-life or pro-choice it shouldn’t be the responsibility of the taxpayers unless there are circumstances where it is medically necessary.
Another major change in procedures is transgender transitions will not be covered. If a person wants to transition their sex they are more than welcome to but it should not be covered under Medicaid. Medicaid should only cover medical procedures that are necessary and should not cover procedures that someone wants by choice. Just like cosmetic surgery is not covered this should not be covered either. When a person wants cosmetic surgery it is because of a lifestyle choice and is not medically necessary. Transgender surgery is a lifestyle choice and is a procedure that a person wants to have, not because of a medical reason.
The only people who will lose their health insurance because of these cuts are the ones who don’t qualify under the new guidelines. These guidelines are not unreasonable and need to be implemented to allow so we can keep giving Medicaid to people who absolutely need it, like the elderly and disabled. Donald Trump is implementing these policies so we can use taxpayer money on programs that the American people need. Medicaid has been doing a lot of wasteful and unnecessary spending and these cuts will help Medicaid be available for the people who need it the most.
Tax Cuts
During Trump’s first term in the oval office he signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. This year those tax cuts in that bill no longer apply. This bill will extend the cuts from the 2017 bill as well as adding some more changes. Democrats have said this bill only benefits the wealthy and doesn’t do anything to help the middle or lower class. Although this bill does benefit the wealthy and give top earners and corporations tax cuts, it benefits the middle and lower classes as well. This is just another example of Democrats portraying false messages that Donald Trump is only looking out for the wealthy.
Along with all the tax cuts from 2017 this bill will also cut taxes on social security and tips, both beneficial to the lower and middle class. The majority of tax cuts in this bill do go to the wealthy, however this is something that I don’t disagree with and think is a good thing for the economy of this country. Democrats have constantly said that the wealthy need to pay their fair share and constantly want to raise there taxes. This has been proven not to work and only hurts the economy. The wealthy may make a lot more money than most of us but they also pay more taxes than most of us. They still have to pay over double the percentage of taxes the lower class has to pay. I don’t think people should be penalized for living the American dream and becoming wealthy (I am not wealthy at all, am considered low class so this doesn’t affect me).
Raising taxes on the wealthy hurts our economy and the lower and middle class. It hurts jobs, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. This bill keeps the corporate tax rate at a flat 21% rate and cutting taxes on corporations will actually help the economy and create jobs. What creates jobs in investments and cutting taxes on the wealthy and corporations enables them to invest more money into the economy. No corporation wants to have money just sitting in the bank so they take money from their profits and reinvest it back into our economy. They will expand there business which will create jobs. The more businesses that are created, the more competition it creates, the more jobs there are, and the more tax dollars the government will receive.
Every time taxes are raised on corporations it prevents them from investing money or expanding their business. They end cutting jobs or moving their business to where taxes are lower, even if they have to go outside the country. During Trump’s first term, before COVID hit, his tax cuts were working and unemployment was at record lows. Jobs were being created and businesses were expanding. Money was being invested into the economy and small businesses were being created. So this bill does benefit the wealthy and corporations but that will benefit the economy which will benefit the lower and middle class. This is how we rebuild our economy and create jobs in this country.
Conclusion
Whether or not you like Trump and agree with him he is fulfilling his campaign promises. The Democrats have been attacking him since he ran for office during the 2016 election, many of their claims which have proven to be false. During this last campaign we saw how the Democrats don’t have a plan to better this country and their only strategy was to attack Trump. That strategy has not changed. Instead of working with Republicans and Donald Trump to implement policies that will help this country they battle him on every decision that is made. It doesn’t matter whether or not they agree with the policy or not, whether or not they think it will help the country or not, if Donald Trump is for it the Democrats aren’t.
Because of this I have lost all faith in the Democrats and don’t take anything they say seriously. They are more worried about getting Trump out of office than they are about doing what is best for this country. That doesn’t mean I agree with everything Trump says and does. There are decisions he makes and things he says that I don’t agree with. Donald Trump is someone who will say whatever is on his mind and it doesn’t; matter who it offends. I don’t like Donald Trump as a person but that doesn’t affect how I feel about the job he is doing.
This big beautiful bill has policies that people will agree with and ones they won’t. That doesn’t mean that this bill won’t benefit our country and the economy. We have to start making our decisions on the facts and what is best for this country and not what is the new main stream attack. Just people don’t like Donald Trump doesn’t mean they have to attack his policies. We elected him to make our country better and we have to give him the chance to do that. These attacks aren’t because he failed, they are because they are afraid he will succeed. If we gave him a chance to do his job and he failed then there would reasons to attack and criticize him. Democrats need to realize that the American people voted for him and we need to let him do his job.
