These are two questions that have been being asked a lot more in recent years. They have been the topic of many debates on whether or not they are true. Even though these questions don’t directly related to each other they both contradict the concept of intelligent design. I have decided to discuss these issues for 2 reasons. First, there have been recent events that have occurred directly related to these questions and second, because I believe they are both true and accurate. Events that have recently occurred have made these two theory’s seem more possible and I felt that it is time for me to discuss why I feel this way.
Darwinism
Darwinism is a theory developed by Charles Darwin in the 19th century states that all living species evolve and adapt over time. It theorizes that humans have evolved and changed over the years into what we are today instead of intelligent design. Because of this this theory has been at the center of debating whether or not it should even be taught in our public schools. Because Darwinism is a scientific theory that has never been proven some people, especially religious groups, feel it should not be taught in our schools. Most people who live in this country are considered religious and these groups feel that teaching students about this theory will create questions that contradict religious teaching and cannot be answered. However, since it is a scientific theory it is currently taught in schools in all 50 states. There have been attempts to take this issue to the supreme court but they have all failed.
Intelligent design is a topic that is not taught in our public schools. This theory is primarily considered by religious groups and is not based on any scientific studies or evidence. Because church and State are separate in this country intelligent design is not allowed to be taught in our schools. I remember learning about this when I was in school and it did make me ask questions that could not be answered. I did not understand why we were allowed to be taught about the Darwinism Theory but not about intelligent design. This is where I began to think that Darwinism had to be more accurate since that was what we were being taught.
Darwinism however is not the only topic we learn in school that contradicts intelligent design and what religion teaches in most religions. I was raised as a christian but am currently an atheist because of questions, such as the ones raised from Darwinism, have convinced my that religious teachings are false. I am sure that many religious groups don’t want Darwinism taught in public schools because of this but the fact remains it is still a scientific theory that has a basis. We can’t pick and choose what science we choose to teach because it contradicts our beliefs.
If this was the case than we wouldn’t know about dinosaurs. Science proves that dinosaurs existed millions of years ago, way before humans roamed the earth. According to the Bible and intelligent design however, humans were created right after the universe and earth were created. Religious teachings are separate from what we are taught in school for a reason and that can’t be our basis for what we allow students to learn. Each person has to decide what they believe and how they rationalize these issues in their own way.
Darwinism may be a theory that has yet to be proven but I believe it is true because we have seen it. Humans, or homo sapiens have been proven to first exist over 150,000 years ago. Different homo species however have existed for almost 2 million years which evolved over time into the homo sapiens species. Humans 100,000 years ago were much different than humans today. Humans starting civilizations, speech, and agriculture began within the last 10,000 years. What proves the evolution theory to me is how much humans have changed, or evolved, in the last 10,000 years. Societies and the way people lived remained relatively the same over that whole time until a drastic change occurred about 300 years ago.
For thousands of years humans were nomadic hunters and gatherers. Civilizations did not begin until humans learned how to grow their own food, allowing them to stay in one place. Once civilizations started humans then started building and living houses. Societies were created and have continued to grow and develop. As they grew tools were then created to make lives easier. People went from inventing the wheel, to forging metal, to the society we live in today.
The last 100 years however we have seen our society advance drastically. We continue to invent new products that make our lives easier. When I was a child the computer and the internet were a new invention. Computers were large and slow and surfing the web was nothing like it is today. Now everyone has a cellphone that are much more advanced then the computers were when I was a child. All these inventions that have been created are humans evolving. As life changes humans continue to evolve to help adapt to the world we live in.
Are We Alone?
This is a question that I am sure has been asked for thousands of years. There have been multiple claims of people claiming to have witnessed ufo’s. Conspiracy theories have been around for decades with people claiming that the government has known about UFOs. Area 51 is probably the most famous site where people think the government has a UFO. Although most people used to disclaim these ideas events that have happened recently have really made me wonder that they may be true.
I have always thought that there is life elsewhere in the universe. We know absolutely nothing about the universe, where it begins or ends, how big it is, and how many different planets are out there. It is hard for me to believe that we are the only life form in the universe. Whether or not they have visited our planet is another story altogether. I don’t know if they have or not but it definitely seems like it may be possible. Many people think they have, especially in ancient times.
There are a lot of reasons to think they have visited our planet, even in ancient times. A lot of things that have happened in the past that can’t be explained people think may be because of aliens. A popular show, ancient aliens, explains all the reasons why they think aliens have visited our planet in ancient times and gave them knowledge. There are hieroglyphics in ancient Egypt from thousands of years ago that seem to show a helicopter, boat, and submarine. The Aztec lines are images drawn in the ground from over 2000 years ago that can only be seen from the air. There are many examples like these that can’t be explained and although not proven the possibility of UFOs visiting can’t be ruled out.
More recently there have been many accounts of people claiming to have witnessed UFOs. Many of these claims have even been caught on video. Some of these claims have even come from air force pilots. One of the most famous recent accounts from military pilots was in 2004 where they claimed to have seen a “tic-tac” shaped object that was flying in ways no aircraft could possibly do. These object was even caught on video and is hard to make out what it is. Because of all the recent UFO sightings the Department of Defense released a report in 2024. The government has been collecting information on UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) and investigating all of the reported sightings. The fact that the government has been collecting this information and investigating sightings makes the possibility of other life in the universe much more real. There has been enough sighting and video evidence that the government had to get involved.
Although sightings of UFOs have been reported for decades they were never taken seriously. Most people always thought that these people were either looking for attention or part of a crazed group of people who were obsessed with the idea of extraterrestrials. The government never got involved until recently and that is because sightings have not only been caught on video but have been reported by a number of different people. When military pilots reported sightings it brought a lot more relevance to the possibility. They are trained to fly and know how all types of aircraft are capable of maneuvering. The fact that they can’t explain what the objects were and are considered a reliable source the government had to get involved.
The department of defense released a 63 page report discussing all of the sightings they investigated, which are hundreds every year. The report claimed that they were able to explain almost all of the sightings, however there were some that they can’t explain and don’t know what they were. The report also discussed claims that they have obtained UFOs and have been studying them. They say these claims aren’t true and they have no evidence of other life forms visiting our planet.
Although the government stated they have no evidence of extraterrestrials many people have always thought that the government obtained a crashed UFO. I have heard claims that Area 51 is a site for studying a crashed UFO . Although there is no direct evidence that any government has ever obtained a UFO doesn’t mean it isn’t a possibility. I have never been much thought into conspiracy theories but technology in our society has advanced tremendously in the past 100 years. There have been more advancements in technology this century than there were during the past 5000 years. During WW 2 the Nazis developed many advanced high tech weapons, leading to conspiracy theories that they were obtaining the technology from a UFO. Although this is unlikely it does make me wonder how technology has advanced so drastically during the 20th century.
In 1947 at Rosewell, Mexico a crash occurred leading to conspiracy theories that it was a UFO the government kept in area 51 and was used to make many technological advancements. This is most likely not true but I bring it up because of the fact that so many events have occurred that can’t be explained it has led to these conspiracy theories. There have been events that can’t be explained and all of these conspiracy theories originated from somewhere. The fact that there are so many theories surrounding the similar stories to me means there has to be some truth to them. I am sure all these stories are exaggerated and not close to the truth but they did originate from somewhere.
UFOs, extraterrestrials, and conspiracy theories surrounding them are something I have never paid much attention to. I have always believed there are other life forms somewhere out there in the universe but never put much thought into whether or not they have visited us. However, after everything that has happened recently between the sightings and the government report it has made me start to think more about it. It has also made me wonder why and how technology has advanced so much in the past hundred years. Although I don’t know what the answer is and probably never will, it is possible that we obtained technology from a UFO.
Conclusion
Majority of people who live in this country are religious and these two theories are in direct contrast with their beliefs. We are a society that puts our religious beliefs first and tries to make everything fit into those beliefs. If they contrast those beliefs than they try to dismiss them altogether, no matter what the evidence tells us. People have asked me if I don’t believe in God then how do I think we were created. The truth is that I have no idea. I can’t explain it and there are a lot of things that don’t make sense to me or that I don’t understand. Because I don’t know doesn’t mean that I am going to believe what everyone else believes or is the common answer.
Religion has been around since civilizations began. All though there are over 3000 religions most of them revolve around the same core belief. Many people think that since religion has been around so long it has to be true. I am not against religion and believe it is a guide for many to live by. One problem I have however is that religious beliefs have remained even if we discover something that is in direct contrast to those beliefs. We have to change what we think about something once we learn new information the changes those beliefs. People used to think the world was flat but once we discovered evidence it was round people changed those beliefs.
Although these two theories have yet to be proven we are starting to find evidence that they are possible. As I discussed earlier once the Darwinism theory started to become popular and taught in our school system religious groups wanted to ban it. The only way we can keep advancing as a society is to continue to learn, no matter where that information takes us. As we continue to obtain new information these two theories seem more likely to be true. Finding evidence about whether or not they are true will allow us to prepare for the future.
I believe these two theories are both true and we need to continue to learn more about them. Our society is beginning to change what we teach our kids because it doesn’t align with their beliefs. Facts cannot be changed and if we try to we are only harming ourselves. Our society has grown the way it has because of what we have learned. Learning our history helps prepare you to make decisions in the future by learning from our mistakes. These two theories have the possibility to change not only our beliefs but how we live our lives.
