On Sunday. July 23 President Joe Biden finally dropped out of the presidential race. Immediately after announcing his departure President Biden endorsed Kamala Harris. To some people this may come as a surprise but I thought this should have happened a long time ago. By just looking at how much worse he has been getting, especially since the debate, there is no way he would have been able to make it another four years. Even though Joe Biden did need to drop out of the race, the timing out of asks a lot of questions and has the potential to cause a lot of problems.
The timing of this happening does not work in the favor of the democrats and asks a lot of questions as well. President Biden was adamant that he was not going to drop out of the race and was going to continue run, he claimed he was the only one who could beat Donald Trump. Although Biden did call for unity after the assassination attempt of Trump, it was short lived. Biden still made it clear that Trump was a liar and that if he were elected it would be the worst thing that could happen to the United States. How can you call for unity while claiming that it will be the end of the world if your opponent is elected. They should be finding ways to work together, especially with the situation the democrats are in now.
When I first heard this store it made me wonder why Biden was dropping out of the race since he had made it clear that he wasn’t. Even as his own party was calling for him to drop out he remained adamant that he was going to run and beat Trump. When I first he had contracted Covid again I heard a few news outlets asking if it was even real and if he was using it as an excuse. I completely blew that off thinking there was no way that would be possible or that the DNC would do that. At the time I heard people say that he was using Covid as an excuse so that he didn’t have to go into the spotlight and can remain silent on all the bad press he was receiving. Then I heard he dropped out of the race and I began to wonder, is this all a ruse.
I am not saying this is the case and I have not heard anything confirming this or even speculating anymore than is already out there. However, when I began to think about the reasons of why he might do this it did make sense. Look at how the two sides are reacting to the news of him dropping out of the race. I was listening to Morning Joe and a number of liberal news outlets and everyone of them congratulate Biden on the decision to drop out of the race. The talk about the courage he has to make this decision and how it shows how much he is putting this country before his health. If you listen to the other side of the news outlets they are all asking how long they knew his health was in such decline and whether or not he is competent enough to finish out the rest of this term. That question, wondering if he is competent enough to finish out the rest of his term, is the statement that made me wonder how real this Covid diagnosis was.
If Joe Biden wasn’t diagnosed with Covid and just dropped out of the race anyway it was cause a lot of people to ask why. People have already been calling for him to drop out and he has refused to do so and now that we are so close to the election this is when he makes his decision. I would begin to wonder how bad his health really was and wonder if he was capable to finish the rest of his term. Now that he was diagnosed with Covid he can claim that he is fine and has always been fine but that this latest diagnosis was too much for him so he decided it was time to drop out. I am not saying by any means that this is what happened or this was reason but the problem with this president is that it makes you wonder.
What adds more to my wonder is the fact how everyone is claiming how courageous he is to make this decision. When republicans question how long democrats have known about his declining health they blow it off as conspiracy theories, which is a contradiction in itself. For one, anyone who was been watching this president can tell his health has been in decline for a long time, and it only seems to be getting worse. He has having a harder time putting words together, seems lost and confused a lot of the times, and is only allowed to call on certain people during his press conferences, and needs to keep notes to remember what he is doing. On top of that, the amount of people calling for him to drop out tells you how many people know his health is going into decline and he is not capable to be the Commander in Chief. The damage he could of done if he remained in office is scary enough but what about the damage he has already done.
One of the biggest problems is nobody is willing to call him out on his faults and mistakes. They regard him as one of the best presidents we have had and constantly claim for people to look at everything he has done for this country. People don’t seem to remember that we are still worse off then when Donald Trump was in office before Covid hit. The problem with President Biden is that he is basing his accomplishments off the numbers our country had going into Covid. He is constantly touting how we have the best economy in the world and that just isn’t true.
The timing of this decision only hurts the Democratic Party. Although President Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, along with a number of other prominent democrats, is this there best choice or only choice. With so little time until the election it would be hard to find another candidate and have them be able to succeed. So before everyone starts calling Joe Biden a great man for dropping out of the race, they should be ridiculing him for waiting so long especially since everyone knew his mental and physical health were in decline. This decision is going to hurt America a lot more than it will help. My worry about Kamala Harris is that people are going to vote for her because of he she is and not because of what she has done, which is not much.
As a Vice President who can really say the achievements Kamala Harris made. One of her first appointments was to work on the border, a place she refused to go to while it got worse and worse. The few press conferences I have seen her in does not give me much faith in her that she is capable to run this country. I have heard people ask that if this country is ready for the first black women to become president and the only thing I can say to that is I don’t care who becomes president, as long as they can do the job. Black, white, gay, trans, it doesn’t matter to me, we need to start looking at the job they will do if elected and not the person. This is the reason why Trump is attacked so much, they can’t go after his policies so they go after the person. And democrats can’t talk about what they plan on doing for this country so they attack their opponent. From what has recently happened my opinion still has not changed, I think Donald Trump is the best choice to bring this country into the future, whether you like him or not.
